Our blog is fast turning into another one of Michael's vanity projects. Long term, he probably has the intention of publishing a collection of his blog postings as another of his side projects.
The Great North Run is taking place this Sunday morning. As far as I'm aware, I am Spirit of Play's sole representative at the event, but one of thousands representing Guide Dogs for the Blind. There's no particular reason for my choosing this charity, except that I like the little jackets those doggies wear, and I think they're like, dead good at crossing the road and that. And when I watch Crufts on the telly and they have those special Dog Bravery awards, I always have a little cry.
It's thirteen and a bit miles. I'm slightly concerned that I've only run more than 6 miles twice, but pretty confident I can do it. 2 hours or less, that's the target.
I strongly believe that "The Sop" will be there with me while I run, in spirit at least. I just hope I don't follow Tom's example of starting something too fast and do myself a mischief.

Vanity, thy name is Caines. Jonny, thy name is Running Man. I will pray for your thirteen and a bit miles on Sunday.
