Spirit of Play

The most fun you can have with your mortarboard on

All roads lead to Leeds

24hrs, 400-odd miles, 18 butterscotch, scores of Eddie Stobarts and a smattering of Norbert Dentressangles, 22 strings (not including the super strings), an old snare, a heap of feedback and a touch of the heebie-jeebies later, and we're back.

We didn't say "Hello, Leeds", it didn't feel like the right thing to do at the time. Everyone learned about music and the brain (did you know that our neurones pulse in synchrony when we listen to music? well, did you?) and was a bit cross to Stephen Pinker (auditory cheesecake, indeed).

Zoe Cormier, who is a guerilla scientist, and has visited a particle accelerator, told us all lots of good stuff and then we came on and played. Topics covered in song? I'm glad you asked: sub-atomic stuff, shallow marine environments, velocity, childcare, the selfish gene, parallel universes, who exactly is Geek of the Week, heat death and the Spirit of Play. The lyrics to that one are posted somewhere, so you can work out for yourselves what it means. Good luck.

I haven't got any pictures but an person unknown did join us on stage with his videocamera. Go figure.

Jonny did the driving, and we didn't have to tap the dashboard once. Not ONCE.
