Geekpop is go!

And to celebrate, I thought I'd post this picture of a chicken:

A chicken watching a cricket match, that is. Or even a man or woman dressed as a giant chicken who's developed a sudden and overwhelming interest in cricket. 10 points if you can name the cricket ground. 10,000,000,000 points if you can tell me who's playing and what the score is.

Geekpop is a wonderful thing – an online festival of music, science and comedy, only all jumbled up so the science is funny, the music is comical and the comedy is in C-sharp minor with a side order of F. It involves a virtual treasure hunt. And a science oratorio. And a band who admirably insist on using pre-1985 electronics.

And, in case you hadn't guessed already, two new SOP songs, "chromosome" and "M", after last year's geekpop offerings, "wave or particle" and "geek of the week". You can still visit the 2009 geekpop site and hear those earlier songs here.

This picture has nothing to do with geekpop. The moment just seemed right.

What? Did I say something wrong?

I am the chicken. It's Headingley and Surrey are chasing 320-odd to win and have lost early wickets.

Geekpop looks good, too.

Close enough - the 10,000,000,010 points are yours - unless somebody else has a better suggestion...

It's blatantly The Oval and the South Africa B team are beating South Africa A. Stupid Chicken.

The chicken is a fan of science? The festival is some sort of sporting occasion? I'm not getting this ... No, wait a minute ... That's you isn't it? Second from the left, next to the guy with the metronome hanging from his trousers - it's just that you were too bashful to mention it. Liking the new moustache ...

Woah, you guys rock, literally. Great gig tonight

RE Chicken: what stuffing and nonsense.
